The Sr. Product Manager is responsible for the commercial lifecycle of in-rack battery backup solutions designed for hyperscale data centers and artificial intelligence (AI)/High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments. This includes owning and executing the product roadmap from concept through end-of-life, driving financial performance and product roadmap, and ensuring solution competitiveness in global markets including US, EMEA, and APAC regions. This role involves engaging directly with customers and partners, serving as the primary sales support resource, and spearheading cross-functional alignment around DC modular solutions such as in-rack battery backup units (BBU), AI workload support products, and other rack mount edge products. The position reports to the Director of Product Management and may be worked remotely from home, or at ZincFive headquarters located in Tualatin, Oregon.
Sr. Product Manager – DC Modular Battery Backup Solutions Job Duties:
- Conduct market research and competitive analyses; bring the voice of the customer to the organization; generate product strategy as well as working with the applications engineering team to develop product concepts and MRD’s for roadmap projects
- Develop and maintain product roadmaps through working and aligning with multiple stakeholders
- Work closely with the team to ensure that product requirements are understood and communicated to stakeholders for final approval prior to execution
- Support program management to ensure on-time delivery of specific milestones and prevent project scope creep
- Provide guidance to all levels of sales, marketing, and engineering staff on technology and industry related issues specifically around in rack battery solutions and cylindrical cell formats
- Apply in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and non-standard situations
- Support the ZincFive product lifecycle management process for all product management and marketing deliverables in each phase gate
- Strive to understand others’ opinions and build agreement among team members; utilize others’ ideas and suggestions to shape solutions rather than open-ended conversations
- Act as the product evangelist to build awareness and understanding through conferences, industry events, and publications, participate actively in organizations such as OCP globally
- Support digital marketing and PR groups from a technical product perspective
- Utilize marketing skills to develop position statements; feature-advantage-benefit statements; product pricing; collateral content and business cases, and revenue targets for product lines
- Work with global partners to integrate and offer ZincFive solutions
- Act as the primary resource outside of the sales organization for sales support on assigned products. Coordinate timely responses to sales inquiries with other team members and organizations as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, power electronics, electrochemistry, or equivalent years of experience
- Experience in market research, product definition, and developing competitive advantages
- Experience in battery and modular DC systems for backup in hyperscale data center applications or AI work loads
- Power supply and power electronics knowledge and product management experience
- Experience with various battery chemistries and battery cell formats, specifically cylindrical
- Experience writing product specifications including product concepts, Marketing Requirements Documents, and data sheets
- Experience in technical product management involving senior level stakeholders
- Strong presentation skills to create and present to diverse audiences including technical and executive levels
- Experience managing relationships with internal and external customers
- Experience in MS Office Suite and MS Project and various software applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented and organized
- Ability to travel as needed, 20% domestic and internationally
Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Advanced degree, MS in Engineering or MBA
- Experience with OEM power supply units (PSU) and/or OCP compliant battery backup designs
- Advanced battery monitoring and control logic design experience
- Demonstrated superior written communication skills
