Responsibilities

Skyward Specialty is seeking a Casualty Product Manager to lead the strategy and profitability for the General Liability (GL) and Commercial Auto product lines.
 
This role significantly contributes to the underwriting leadership team and involves close collaboration with Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance, Sales, and Marketing to boost product performance, refine pricing strategies, and implement cutting-edge solutions in risk selection and segmentation for these product lines.
 
We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in Commercial Auto and/or GL Casualty Underwriting, who excels in a data-driven, team-oriented environment and has a proven track record of driving profitable growth.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the product line expert for General Liability and Commercial Auto, ensuring robust underwriting and risk selection standards.
  • Evaluate product performance across various states and territories, using data insights to fine-tune strategies.
  • Develop and oversee pricing strategies by territory to ensure alignment with market conditions and company profitability goals.
  • Partner with Actuarial and Underwriting to set state-permissible loss ratios and explore segmentation opportunities.
  • Research industry trends, emerging risks, InsurTech advancements, AI, and predictive modeling to drive product innovation.
  • Maintain consistent underwriting guidelines and risk assessment standards.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Commercial Auto, GL/Casualty in Underwriting and/or Product Development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • CPCU designation preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in pricing strategy, risk segmentation, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving abilities to drive product innovation and market positioning.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with all levels of leadership.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the independent agency distribution channel and current industry trends.

Compensation & Benefits

 

The base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements.  In addition to the base salary, this opportunity may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
