Description

The Technical Product Manager - CPQ & Configurator is responsible for building and maintaining automation systems that connect CPQ, CAD, and PDM/PLM environments to enable scalable product configuration and quoting. This role translates product and engineering knowledge into structured logic that supports faster sales cycles, improved design accuracy, and streamlined manufacturing workflows.


Working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Software teams, this position plays a key role in developing configurators, standardizing engineering processes, and enabling automation across Hyper’s product ecosystem.


Core Responsibilities

  • Translate product requirements and engineering rules into configurator logic, workflows, and automation systems
  • Develop and maintain product configuration models, rules engines, and parametric logic
  • Build and support configurators that integrate with CPQ, CAD automation, and PDM/PLM/ERP systems
  • Ensure configurator outputs align with engineering standards, BOM structures, and downstream systems
  • Structure and manage product data for use in configurators, including logic tables, parametric models, and pricing inputs

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop and support front-end scripting for configurator interfaces and automation tools
  • Partner with software developers on requirements, testing, and debugging
  • Administer and maintain CAD/PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks PDM), including file structure, metadata, and revision control
  • Define and enforce CAD standards, templates, and best practices
  • Support CAD automation workflows, including drawing generation, model parameterization, and BOM creation
  • Lead initiatives to standardize engineering processes and enable scalable product configuration frameworks
  • Act as a technical liaison across Product, Engineering, Software, and CAD/PDM stakeholders
  • Document system architecture, workflows, and technical standards
  • Support testing, validation, and continuous improvement of automation outputs
Requirements
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience with CPQ systems, product configurators, or engineering automation
  • Experience working with CAD systems and PDM/PLM environments
  • Strong Excel skills, including data modeling, logic tables, and advanced formulas
  • Familiarity with scripting or programming (JavaScript, Python, VBA, or similar)
  • Ability to translate product and engineering requirements into structured automation logic
  • Strong organizational and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration

Preferred

  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or AutoCAD
  • Experience with CPQ platforms (Salesforce CPQ, Epicor CPQ, Oracle CPQ, Configure One, etc.)
  • Familiarity with rules engines, parametric modeling, or knowledge-based engineering
  • Background in product design, manufacturing, or engineered-to-order environments
  • Experience defining standards, leading process improvements, or training engineering teams

Location 


Onsite in Richmond, VA, or remote depending on candidate location and business needs. 


Compensation 


The anticipated minimum hiring range for this role is $90,000 - $130,000?per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications and location. This hire will be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
