The pod will have direct interaction and collaboration with our enterprise fraud program, so background and expertise in fraud strategies across various payment rails would be ideal.

The core mission of the Risk Services group is to: enable (internal and external) clients to create rules that help identify and block fraud and operator error; enable BNY to monitor, pause, and reject payments; access proprietary and third-party data to verify payment attributes; and identify anomalies with data science and artificial intelligence.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Own and manage the product backlog for the pod, ensuring alignment with platform OKRs and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across various Business, Operations, Technology, Compliance, and Client Services to define and refine business problems and expected outcomes.
  • Knowledge of AI and ML strategies and tools for purposes of risk mitigation and fraud detection.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize backlog items to balance new feature delivery, technical debt, and platform resiliency.
  • Lead sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives in partnership with the Scrum Leads and development team.
  • Ensure solution designs align with long-term architecture and platform vision.
  • Monitor and measure pod’s performance, using data to inform decisions and continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent

  • 10+ years of experience in transaction banking, with at least 5-7 years in a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst role.
  • Proven experience working on payment processing.

Domain Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of payment rails: wires, ACH, instant payments, and emerging networks.

  • Understanding of cross-border payments, correspondent banking, and global payment schemes (e.g., SWIFT, SEPA, Fedwire, CHAPS).
  • Familiarity with ISO 20022 and legacy messaging standards (MT messages).
  • Familiarity with integration and commercialization of API services

  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning with focus on fraud mitigation

  • Experience with integrating third party API functions into proprietary rules-based services

  • Strong knowledge of fraud trends and recurring patterns of operational risk in payments landscape

  • Awareness of the regulatory landscape and financial services risks, particularly those affecting fraud prevention, data privacy, and operational resilience.

Product Ownership & Agile Skills

  • Experience as a Product Manager in Agile/Scrum environments, with a solid grasp of Agile principles, ceremonies and backlog prioritization/management.

  • Ability to write clear and actionable user stories, define acceptance criteria, and manage a product backlog.

  • Expertise in design and execution of a product vision/strategy and 18-month roadmap

  • Strong stakeholder management skills — capable of balancing the needs of operations, compliance, IT, and clients.
  • Experience collaborating with development teams, testers, and business SMEs to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Comfort with navigating internal governance processes such as Business Process Change, Product Governance, Model Risk, etc.

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work cross-functionally across business and technical teams.

  • Ability to analyze trends and use data to inform product decisions and drive operational efficiency.
  • Proficiency with tools like JIRA, Confluence, Excel, and data visualization tools.
