The Washington Post is seeking a Senior Staff Product Manager for Discovery & Personalization to join our Content Experience team and play a key role in shaping the next generation of how audiences discover our journalism. This team owns some of our most visible products, including the homepage, our mobile app, media experiences, live blog etc. and is central to how we inform and inspire millions of readers every day.
Develop and lead the personalization product strategy and roadmap across platforms, aligning innovation with user needs and newsroom priorities.
Drive cross-functional teams to build and evolve smart, adaptive content experiences that increase discovery, engagement, and time well spent.
Partner closely with Data and AI teams to inform model development and evaluation, shaping how recommendations and personalization systems evolve over time.
Use a mix of user research, experimentation, and analytics to validate hypotheses and continuously optimize the experience.
Collaborate with editorial and design stakeholders to ensure personalized surfaces maintain journalistic integrity, visual clarity, and a sense of editorial curation.
Define and track success metrics tied to personalization, discovery, and audience retention; communicate insights clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
Represent the personalization vision at a senior level, advocating for investments that balance long-term innovation with short-term impact.
8+ years of experience in product management, with a strong track record of building consumer-facing products at scale.
Strong analytical skills and experience working with data-driven product development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to executive stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Prior work on AI-powered personalization or machine learning-driven products.
Experience in the media or content industry.
Master’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field.

The salary range for this position is:
$144,600 - $241,100 AnnualThe actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
