Senior Security Product Manager

The Customer Acceleration Team (CAT) is part of the Customer Experience Engineering (CxE) division within Microsoft’s Security business. We work with customers from all over the world and all shapes and sizes, and we work directly with engineering to shape the product based on these customer insights. The CAT Senior Security Product Manager will handle technical aspects of customer and partner engagements with a focus on security and AI initiatives. This role entails providing proactive guidance, active listening, dealing with ambiguity and driving technical execution.  

The key Microsoft Security products driven through our team are Microsoft Information Protection (MIP), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and Insider Risk Management (IRM). We partner closely with our Purview Product Engineering Teams to improve our products by gathering insights from the thousands of customers we work with daily.

• Lead pre-intent and post-intent customer and engagement teams in the successful onboarding, enablement, and adoption of the Microsoft Purview capabilities.
• Become a subject matter expert on Microsoft Purview data security and compliance capabilities from a technical breadth and depth perspective aligned with generative AI 
• Comfortable and confidently deliver technical and strategic sessions and demonstrations to customer stakeholders ranging from C-Level to architects to analyst level audiences.
• Understand customer use cases and how they can be fulfilled by Microsoft Purview.
• Be customer obsessed, act as the customer advocate within Microsoft Purview product and engineering teams to ensure customer blockers / issues / feedback and needs are properly addressed to resolution.
• Drive critical feedback, insights, customer requirements and adoption of Microsoft Purview to improve the solution, drive value to customers and overall solution adoption and consumption.
• Champion the voice of the customer, gathering insights to inform product strategy and development.
• Engage with customers and partners to understand challenges and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
• Drive customer adoption through targeted enablement, training, and support initiatives.
• Build and maintain key relationships with customer stakeholders to drive continued confidence and trust with Microsoft Purview.

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
  • OR equivalent experience. 
• 5+ years (or equivalent) technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience.
• 5+ years (or equivalent) of Microsoft Purview Data Security (Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention / Endpoint DLP, Adaptive Protection and Insider Risk Management). 
• 2+ years Data Loss Prevention experience
• Demonstrated ability to produce content, including articles, videos, podcasts, etc around deployment guidance.
• Experience evaluating and translating customer needs, requirements, and challenges, identifying solutions (positioning, technology, business value, prioritization), and communicating improvement opportunities to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:
- This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Purview Data Compliance (Communications Compliance, eDiscovery and Audit, Data Lifecycle Management) is a nice to have.
• Ability to forge strong relationships with customers communicating on behalf of Microsoft Security engineering, facilitating understanding of the value proposition of Microsoft Purview.
• Experience engaging with customers and managing expectations in customer-facing roles.
• Experience delivering concise and fact-based communications / presentations both verbal and written and adapting style and level of information based on audience (C-Level, business, architect, analysts, developers).
• Experience engaging with customers and managing expectations in customer-facing roles.
• Ability to adapt to change and comfortable pivoting in response to changing circumstances and ambiguous situations within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Experience evaluating and translating customer needs, requirements, and challenges, identifying solutions (positioning, technology, business value, prioritization), and communicating improvement opportunities to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
