The Senior Product Manager is responsible for defining and executing the product strategy for assigned building product categories across their full lifecycle. This role leads product planning, market analysis, and cross-functional execution to deliver profitable, differentiated solutions that meet customer needs, code requirements, and business objectives.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap
    • Provide product vision, strategy, and contribute to multi-year roadmap aligned with company goals.
    • Identify growth opportunities through market, customer, and competitive analysis.
    • Define target consumer segment, value propositions, pricing strategies, and positioning for assigned product lines.
    • Prioritize features, SKUs, and investments based on business impact
  • Product Development & Lifecycle Management
    • Inform and guide new product development efforts from concept through launch and post-launch optimization.
    • Manage product lifecycle including line extensions, cost reductions, and end-of-life decisions.
    • Translate customer and market needs into clear product requirements and specifications.
    • Partner with Brand Management to develop go-to-market strategies for new product launches, including positioning, messaging, packaging, and launch support plans.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
    • Partner with Engineering, R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and Finance.
    • Serve as the primary product authority for internal/external stakeholders and executive leadership.
    • Support Sales with product training, tools, and customer-facing presentations.
    • Lead product training efforts for internal and customer resources via Trex University and in the field.
  • Customer & Market Engagement
    • Gather voice-of-customer insights via qualitative and quantitative research as well as field visits including consumers, channel partners and contractor / end-users.
    • Conduct ongoing market analysis, including category trends, and competitive landscape assessment, to identify opportunities and threats.
    • Monitor industry trends, codes, standards, and regulations impacting building products.
    • Represent the company at trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events.
  • Financial & Performance Management
    • Accountable to P&L performance for assigned product lines.
    • Collaborate with Sales, Supply Chain, and Finance regarding forecasting and inventory management.
    • Develop and manage business cases, and KPIs.
    • Track product performance and implement corrective actions as needed

    Manage and provide ongoing performance, coaching, and professional development opportunities for a small team of direct reports, typically Associate Product Manager(s)

    EXPERIENCE

    We are looking for someone with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or related fields and 7+ years of Product Management experience required, preferably in building materials.

    • Required Skills & Experience:
      • Consumer product or branded building product management experience.
      • Proven record of successful new product launches.
      • Experience working with contractors, distributors, architects, and engineers.
      • Possesses strong presentation skills along with strong oral and written communication skills.
      • Combination of creativity and analytical abilities
      • Strong cross-functional leadership, technical experience, and project management abilities

    SALARY

    Base Salary Range: $135,000 - $190,000

    The salary range provided serves as a general guideline for potential compensation for this position. It reflects the base salary and does not account for other benefits or additional compensation opportunities that may apply. This role is also eligible for further compensation through an annual/sales bonus, in addition to the base salary.
