Position Summary

The Quality and Product Manager will play a key role in advancing Ithaca Hummus’s quality and product development programs. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in food manufacturing who’s ready to lead initiatives in ingredient review, certification management, plant trials, and data analysis. The role requires a proactive, detail-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about collaboration and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sample Testing & Quality Monitoring
    • Conduct and document testing of production and sales samples to ensure compliance with specifications.
    • Track and report deviations, driving timely corrective actions with cross-functional teams.
  • Data Management & Analysis
    • Maintain accurate data on lab results, certifications, and quality checks.
    • Analyze trends across quality metrics, consumer feedback, and manufacturing performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Recall & Issue Resolution
    • Lead recall coordination and traceability exercises.
    • Investigate and follow up on manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Product Development
    • Own development of new products and recipes from concept through commercialization, ensuring alignment with brand standards and strategic goals.
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute plant trials end-to-end, delivering on objectives.
  • Supplier & Ingredient Oversight
    • Evaluate and approve new ingredients and suppliers.
    • Manage finished product and ingredient specifications.
  • Certification & Compliance Oversight
    • Manage Kosher, Non-GMO Project, and Glyphosate-Free certifications.   (e.g., Food Chain ID).
    • Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory and customer requirements including label and packaging review.
  • Consumer Feedback & Support
    • Summarize and communicate consumer insights to inform product and process improvements.
    • Support the customer service team in quality-related inquiries.
  • Technical Support for New Business
    • Provide technical documentation and compliance support for customer onboarding.
    • Assist in compiling compliance documents and answering technical questions.
  • Laboratory & Equipment Management
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the QA lab.
    • Schedule regular calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, biology, chemistry, or a related field preferred, but not mandatory. On the job experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in food manufacturing, QA, or R&D.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data tracking and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with certifications such as Kosher, Non-GMO, and Glyphosate-Free preferred.
