Drive product execution for the platform that's becoming the operating system for youth activities nationwide. In 90 days, you'll ship features affecting thousands of family bookings. By month 6, you'll define tools used by tens of thousands of activity providers and families, making a substantial impact in people’s daily lives.

Your Journey at Recess

Month 1-3: Master & Execute

• Shadow our founders through strategic product decisions
• Own Linear workspace, coordinate engineering sprints
• Ship your first features end-to-end with engineering team
• Document critical decisions in Notion for team transparency

Month 4-6: Lead & Scale

• Help guide product roadmap prioritization based on user research
• Run A/B tests on booking conversion improvements
• Present metrics and insights to leadership team
• Own cross-functional initiatives with marketing

Month 7-12: Strategy & Mentorship

• Contribute to product vision and annual planning
• Lead major feature launches independently
• Mentor new team members on product processes

Year 2+: Product Leadership Path

What You'll Actually Do

Drive Sprint Execution (40% of time)

• Translate founder vision into actionable user stories with clear acceptance criteria
• Prioritize backlog based on business impact and technical dependencies
• Run refinement sessions ensuring development team has 2 sprints of ready work
• Validate shipped features meet acceptance criteria before release

Analyze & Optimize (30% of time)

• Write SQL queries to track booking conversion, vendor adoption, feature usage
• Create dashboards monitoring key product metrics in real-time
• Identify improvement opportunities through data analysis and user feedback
• Design experiments to validate product hypotheses

Coordinate Cross-Functionally (30% of time)

• Bridge technical constraints with business objectives in stakeholder discussions
• Document product decisions and rationale for transparent collaboration
• Represent engineering capabilities to founders and founder priorities to engineering
• Partner with customer success on vendor onboarding and feedback loops

Essential Skills We Need

Non-Negotiable Requirements:

• SQL proficiency for metrics analysis and dashboard creation
• Strong written communication for documentation and async collaboration
• Analytical mindset with structured approach to problem-solving
• Experience with modern product tools (Linear, Notion, Jira, or similar)

Technical Literacy That Matters:

• Understand API integrations and technical architecture (no coding required)
• Comfortable discussing database schemas and system design with engineers
• Familiarity with payment systems and marketplace dynamics
• Experience with A/B testing and experimentation frameworks

Growth Indicators We Value:

• Side projects demonstrating product thinking
• Open source contributions or technical writing
• Experience in fast-moving startup environments
