Basic Function

The Product Manager, Data at Lumin Digital is responsible for owning and driving the strategy, roadmap, and execution of data and analytics products that empower financial institutions and their members. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, financial services, and product development – translating complex data capabilities into meaningful, intuitive experiences for credit unions and banks. You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, designers, and key stakeholders to deliver data products that unlock insights and drive measurable outcomes for our clients.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for Lumin Digital’s data and analytics capabilities, aligning with company objectives and client needs.

  • Partner with data engineering teams to prioritize and deliver scalable data infrastructure, pipelines, and analytics features built on Databricks and associated data platform technologies.

  • Leverage Pendo and other product analytics tools to monitor user behavior, measure feature adoption, and inform data-driven product decisions across the platform.

  • Translate complex data and analytics requirements into clear, actionable user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria for engineering teams.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the financial services landscape – including regulatory requirements, member data privacy standards, and the unique data needs of credit unions and banks.

  • Identify and define key metrics, KPIs, and dashboards that help financial institution clients measure engagement, growth, and operational performance.

  • Collaborate with client-facing teams to gather feedback, validate hypotheses, and incorporate insights into the product roadmap.

  • Partner with design, engineering, and QA to deliver high-quality analytics features and data products within Agile SCRUM sprints.

  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on data strategy, analytics tooling, and data governance best practices within financial services.

  • Engage with the Lumin Digital community, contributing to organizational growth through honest, candid, and respectful feedback.

  • Partner with data science and engineering teams to support AI/ML use cases and ensure scalable, production-ready data foundations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

30 / 90 / 365 Success Milestones

30 days :

  • Gain a deep understanding of Lumin Digital’s product portfolio, data infrastructure, and key client stakeholders. Build relationships with cross-functional teams across data engineering, design, and client services.

90 days :

  • Take ownership of key data product initiatives, contributing to roadmap prioritization and the delivery of analytics features. Begin leveraging Pendo and Databricks insights to surface actionable recommendations.

1 year :

  • Deliver impactful data products that demonstrate measurable improvements in client adoption, member engagement, and business outcomes for financial institutions. Establish Lumin Digital’s data product practice as a competitive differentiator in the digital banking market.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years leading on the product and analytics side — including hands-on experience building or laying down the roadmap for an analytics platform, not just supporting one.

  • At least 3 years of experience building data and analytics products at an enterprise level, ideally in a B2B SaaS environment with distribution-level clients — hands-on experience building third-party integrations and tools such as Tableau is a strong plus.

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks, data lakehouse architectures, or equivalent big data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, dbt).

  • Experience with Pendo or similar product analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel) — this role will work alongside another product manager to help develop and utilize Pendo as a core part of the analytics workflow.

  • Strong understanding of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data modeling concepts, and BI tooling (e.g., Tableau, Looker, QuickSight).

  • Familiarity with data privacy and compliance requirements relevant to financial institutions, including NCUA, CFPB, and applicable data security standards.

  • Proficiency in Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex data concepts for non-technical audiences.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a bias toward data-driven decision-making.

  • BA/BS degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications
