What you'll do...
Role summary:We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to own the end-to-end performance, reliability, and scalability of the Last Mile Delivery (LMD) ecosystem, with the Spark Driver App as a key consumer of the platform; focused on how mobile clients, backend services, orchestration, and infrastructure work together to deliver reliable, real-time experiences for drivers.
You will be accountable for platform outcomes such as latency, consistency, observability, and MTTR — ensuring the system explains itself when things go wrong and scales predictably as the business grows.
About the team:The Last Mile Delivery team at Walmart is committed to enhancing eCommerce customer experiences by providing flexible and convenient delivery options directly to homes. This team drives innovation in retail by developing data-driven product strategies, managing comprehensive roadmaps, and improving user experience. Collaborating across functions, members focus on seamless fulfillment and continuous advancement through advanced technology. Their efforts support Walmart’s mission to deliver value and convenience, ensuring customers enjoy flexible shopping anytime, anywhere, and through preferred methods. The team fosters a culture of collaboration, strategic thinking, and customer-centric product development.
What you'll do: - Own driver-perceived performance across mobile app + backend systems.
- Partner with engineering to identify systemic bottlenecks and failure modes.
- Define and maintain core LMD journeys and state models.
- Ensure failures are understandable at the journey level, not just at the service or app level.
- Establish a clear error taxonomy mapped to journeys, ownership, and SOPs.
- Drive end-to-end correlation between Spark app events and backend services.
- Develop and own comprehensive product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders to secure resources and drive product strategy execution.
- Communicate effectively with various teams to influence and build consensus.
What you'll bring: - Experience managing platform products and APIs within complex technical environments.
- Proven experience working with real-time, stateful, or high-availability systems (e.g., logistics, marketplace, delivery, mobility).
- Strong technical fluency — comfortable discussing APIs, eventing, latency, consistency, and failure modes.
- Experience owning non-functional requirements (performance, reliability, scalability).
- Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and cross-team dependencies.
- Deep understanding of customer needs, journey mapping, and process optimization to enhance product value.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and modern product development lifecycles.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly.
- Proven expertise in product strategy development and execution, including roadmap creation and MVP delivery.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams.
