Summary:
Upfront by Health Catalyst is seeking a Director of Product Management, Consumer & Patient Engagement to lead the strategy and execution of products that drive meaningful patient activation, engagement, and outcomes.
What you'll focus on in this role:
This role will shape and guide how patients interact with HCAT—from segmentation and targeting through outreach, engagement, and conversion. You will define how data, AI, and patient experience are applied to influence behavior, improve access, and drive measurable clinical and financial outcomes.
You will operate at the intersection of product, engineering, data, client strategy, and growth, ensuring that insights are translated into real-world engagement and action.
The ideal candidate is AI-forward and outcomes-driven, with experience building products that influence behavior at scale and drive adoption across complex healthcare environments.
What you will bring to this role:
Product Ownership & Roadmap Accountability
Be accountable for the success of a defined product module, including roadmap commitments and delivery outcomes.
Manage and prioritize a refined backlog in Azure DevOps.
Translate strategic goals and client needs into clear epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Balance client-specific commitments with platform scalability and long-term maintainability.
Contribute to quarterly planning and help teams navigate tradeoffs to meet shared goals.
Product Owner Leadership with Engineering
Serve as the primary Product Owner for your module, partnering directly with our India-based engineering team.
Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and feature clarification sessions.
Provide clear, structured requirements and rapid decision-making to enable efficient development.
Triage defects and production issues with thoughtful prioritization based on impact and risk.
Ensure engineering teams have context, clarity, and measurable acceptance criteria before development begins.
Client Discovery & External Engagement
Lead structured discovery sessions with enterprise healthcare clients to understand workflows, constraints, and success metrics.
Support sales cycles in a secondary role by providing product expertise and feasibility input.
Partner closely during implementation transitions to ensure delivery aligns with original intent.
Represent roadmap direction and gather structured feedback to inform prioritization.
Workflow & Orchestration Excellence
Define requirements for workflow-heavy, orchestration-based capabilities across multi-channel engagement journeys.
Ensure solutions align with enterprise-grade RBAC models, security expectations, and integration patterns.
Maintain practical awareness of EHR data flows, SaaS architectures, and Azure-based cloud environments sufficient to make informed product decisions.
Product Operations & Process Modernization
Help drive continuous improvement in how the product team operates, including discovery rigor, backlog structure, documentation standards, and release readiness.
Promote, support, and enable adoption of modern, AI-augmented workflows to improve requirement quality, research efficiency, and internal documentation.
Identify opportunities to streamline product processes through automation, intelligent tooling, and better operating discipline.
Contribute to building a scalable, repeatable product development model as the team evolves.
Release Communication & Documentation Ownership
Own the creation of clear, structured release notes and feature documentation.
Establish scalable documentation practices that may leverage AI-enabled tooling.
Ensure internal teams are equipped with concise, high-quality release communication.
Conduct internal enablement sessions to ensure cross-functional readiness for launches.
Product Performance & Continuous Improvement
Monitor adoption, engagement metrics, and qualitative client feedback.
Identify opportunities to improve activation outcomes and workflow efficiency.
Drive iterative enhancements based on measurable insights.
